Sharon Charlotte Rateau
About Sharon Charlotte Rateau
I am a psychotherapist and complementary health therapist with 18 years of professional experience. I provide treatment in areas such as: addictive behaviours, anxiety, social phobia, panic, worry, depression, anger problems, bereavement, loss, low self-esteem, motivation, stress management, childhood abuse. I also work with clients helping them achieve goals and increase motivation.
I am passionate about providing space for growth and healing. I help clients build resilience, self-knowledge and the tools for self-care so they can regain and maintain stable mental and physical health. These skills create a strong buffer against future difficulties, strengthening self-esteem and allowing us to develop our true potential on a foundation of confidence, resourcefulness, and flexibility. I am a graduate of the Tivoli Institute Dún Laoghaire for Professional Psychotherapy. I trained in multiple modalities of psychodynamic therapy, trauma-focused therapy, CBT and mindfulness-based approaches. I trained with Dr Rick Hanson, PhD (psychologist), of the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley in Positive Neuroplasticity and Practice.
My work is inspired by the transformation I have experienced personally through meditation, yoga and therapy. I have been involved in personal development for over 20 years and am a practising meditation and yoga teacher. I have completed the 8-Week MBSR programme with Prof. Jon Kabat-Zinn and attended retreats led by him and his son Will Kabat-Zinn. Early on I had a particular interest in Buddhism and studied and went on regular retreats. I completed the Mindfulness for Life professional accredited 8-week course in Scotland to teach adults mindfulness.
