How One-on-One Counselling Works

Individual therapy, usually referred to as one-on-one counselling, is a cooperative process between you and your counselor. It is a private, secure setting where you are free to express your worries, ideas, and emotions. Our counsellors are skilled at empathizing with your experiences, paying close attention to what you have to say, and giving you unbiased advice to help you overcome challenges and find answers.

  1. Initial Consultation and Assessment – An initial appointment is the first stage in our one-on-one counselling approach. You will get the chance to meet your counsellor and go over your motivations for seeking counselling during this session. This initial consultation aids in building a solid therapeutic relationship and gives your counsellor a better grasp of your particular needs and situation. You will jointly develop goals with your counsellor for your counselling process
  2. Developing a Therapeutic Plan – Many evidence-based therapeutic methods are used by our counsellors, including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques. Your counsellor will collaborate with you to create a specialized therapy plan after your goals have been determined. This plan details the methods, measures, and tactics that will be taken to solve your particular issues. Your unique requirements and preferences will be taken into consideration when creating the therapeutic plan, resulting in a personalized and successful approach to your counselling.
  3. Regular Counselling Sessions – Based on your availability and the agreed-upon frequency, regular counselling sessions will be scheduled. These meetings usually last for 50-60 minutes, giving participants enough time for in-depth exploration and reflection. You can express yourself freely in your counsellor’s accepting and non-judgmental environment. Your counsellor will aid you in establishing coping mechanisms and problem-solving abilities by actively listening to you and engaging in open discourse. This will allow you to acquire insight into your thoughts, emotions, and behaviour.
  4. Confidentiality and Privacy – Confidentiality is a fundamental aspect of the counselling process. Our one-on-one counselling sessions adhere to strict ethical guidelines and legal obligations to ensure your privacy and confidentiality. Anything discussed during the sessions will remain strictly confidential, except in situations where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others. Your counsellor will discuss the limits of confidentiality during the initial consultation, allowing you to have a clear understanding of the boundaries and guidelines in place.
  5. Duration of Counselling – The duration of one-on-one counselling varies depending on the nature and complexity of your concerns, a minimum of 8-10 sessions is generally advised to see some progress. Some individuals may require only a few sessions to address specific issues, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy for ongoing support and personal growth. Your counsellor will regularly review the progress made and discuss the appropriateness of continuing or concluding the counselling process.
  6. How much does a Counselling Session cost? – The counselling fee is ~EUR 70/hr.
